The idea that we have an energy field can seem really far out and woo-woo to many people, so my intention is to explain it in the most simple way that I can. My hope is that more and more people will start to realize the importance and significance the human energy field has on our health and wellbeing. First, it’s important for one to be open to the idea that human beings are more than just a physical body. We are physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and energetic beings.
The human energy field has been described and applied to healing for thousands of years by many cultures around the world. This is not a new concept stemming from the New Age movement. The New Age movement has just allowed it to become more visible. Ancient healing modalities and beliefs from the East have been trickling into the West for sometime now, giving us access to things like Yoga, Acupuncture and Energy Healing, which are three of the more well- known healing modalities that stimulate and balance the human energy field.
What is the Human Energy Field?
The human energy field is like a network of wires running through the body all leading to seven major energy centers (chakras). There are also seven layers of the human energy field, surrounding the body. The energy centers and layers are all connected and correspond with different aspects of our intricate lives…but more on that in a separate blog.
The current that runs through this network of wires is called our Life Force Energy, also known as Prana or Chi, to name a few. Life Force Energy flows through our body helping us feel vibrant and alive. I’m sure you’ve probably said to yourself, “I’m low on energy,” or “I have so much energy today.” Yes!
The belief is that any blockage, imbalance or stagnation within this network of wires can cause physical, mental and emotional discomfort, illness and disease. We have an array of different experiences everyday and throughout our lifetime that impact our energy field in positive and negative ways… Leading us to feel more joy or suffering. These experiences, beliefs and patterns can linger in the Human Energy Field. So, maintaining our Energy Field and keeping the energy moving is an important way to look after our health and wellbeing.
There are many ways to tend to our own Energy Field, allowing us to have more insight and freedom over our own health and healing. Yay!
Learning about the seven main energy centers (chakras) and seven layers of the field is interesting and profound… helping us cultivate self awareness about our belief systems, patterns and experiences and how they show up in the Energy Field. Breathing techniques, qi gong, tai chi, yoga, Energy Healing, Flower Remedies and EFT Tapping are a few personal practices that can help balance and keep the energy clear and flowing. All of these modalities and practices fall under the field of Energy Medicine.
I want to add that I have also heard many stories of people having a really difficult time diagnosing a health issue with a traditional medical doctor and turning to these modalities, whether on their own or with a practitioner, to suddenly be able to heal a long term problem. I can’t say enough good things about how having awareness of our Human Energy Field can change and improve our health and life. I practice many of these modalities on my own and with practitioners.
The modalities I use to help my clients are called Transpersonal Energy Healing, Bach Flower Therapy and Restorative Yoga. I want to invite you to be open to the idea that the human energy field and life force energy is directly connected to our health and wellbeing. In my opinion, it IS our health and wellbeing.
