Our body is constantly communicating with us in so many ways, the most obvious being when we’re hungry, thirsty or tired. But somehow signals of stress have become the thing that most people ignore until they become so loud it’s debilitating.
Being career driven is very time and energy consuming. There’s an overwhelming amount of tasks, duties and projects that need to be tended to. You get so focused on what you need to do that you forget about yourself and the things that feed your soul and make you happy and relaxed. You don’t give yourself enough time to unplug from the career version of yourself and connect with who you truly are.
We experience daily stress, pressure and demands and if we don’t take time to unwind and unplug, we will feel it. When we’re stressed or anxious, our body lets us know. It can show up as muscle tension, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, a knot in the stomach… The list goes on. You may experience one or many of these physical sensations regularly and think it’s just normal, but it’s not. It’s your body signaling to you that something is out of balance and needs to be tended to. It’s up to you to listen.
